I think that Kärnten, the southern part of Austria, is one of the nicest places in Europe to drive a motorbike. The roads are nice and in a good to very good condition. If you like to drive hairpins, well you won't be dissapointed. One road had 50 tight hairpins in a row. Of course don't misunderstand me, not every hairpin is the the same. Some are so tight that you hardly came trough with the Blackbird. You realise that this is not the ideal bike for that kind of work. The Beemer GS is much better for this roads. But anyway we had a super time. The weather was ok, of course we had some rain, but that can't stop you from riding.
    Will post some pictures later.
glad to hear you liked it! how did the weather work out for you?
Carinthia is awesome, but so is Styria, Salzburg, upper Austria, Tirol and Vorarlberg
    it's all in the alps!!

I'm feeling slightly uncomfortable to say though, that the BB is indeed the ideal bike for riding through hairpins and whatnot. I've been everywhere with her, even on the most crappy italian backyard trail you can imagine. BB does every trick in the book

have you been on the Glockner also? how'd you like it?
looking forward to seeing your pics.

I don't want to ride a hairpin that won't accommodate a lock to lock, chin on shoulder, turn. Unless it's on a mountain bike.

    Re: Trip to Austria

The weather was OK except one day of rain from the morning till 16:30. Not very funny if you do a 300 km trip in and around the mountains. All other days where ok.
I imagine that the other regions in Austria are nice as well, but you can't do them all at once. The Großglockner was nice. It was cold that day, but an amazing view, and very low traffic to the top, which makes is even better.
I've just uploaded some pictures to my gallery. Hope they can be seen by everybody. If not, just let me know.
