Hi all, this is the third time it's happened to me, I'm riding along as normal as possible and then all of a sudden the engine cuts out completely. The FI light is on, the speedo and tacho are off and no responce from the throttle.
I then flick the kill switch off then on and we are coasting smoothly again
I'm at a complete loss as to what is going on, can anyone enlighten me on any possibilities please.

Sure sounds like an electrical problem to me, check your kill switch or other connections/fuses off the main battery power feeds etc.

Could his problems be related to the infamous corrosion problem in the harness plug that plagued the '99 and 2000 birds?

You might check the conductivity of your kill sensor assy (#13). You have a Honda Cbr1100XX service manual? Might wanna get one. Would be cheaper than feeding the gorilla at the dealership.

SORRY here is the link I was going to post that pertains to the above message.

ONCE MORE- scroll to the bottom of the dropdown list and choose "wire harness 99 00"

You MAY also look into other things that send a kill signal to the ignition. Something as simple as the side stand switch. My 97 Bbird drove me crazy, chasing this issue.

Like others have written here, look closely at your kill switch for corrosion, and also check your battery connections, and make sure they are snug. I once had a loose positive connection, and the bike would run for about a mile, and then quit. Evidently, the ECU will NOT fire, if the voltage drops below a certain voltage.

The nasty, huge Honda connector folks are talking about may also be icky.

Definitely sounds electrical to me.
