    Fuel Line Quick Disconnects

Has anyone here ever retro'd their bird with fuel line Quick Disconnects ?

A friend of mine mentioned it the other day while we were talking about our bikes. I did an online search and found these...

Fuel Line - Quick Disconnect (ea) - - A&S BMW Motorcycle Parts and Accessories

    and these...

    Jiffy-Tite Quick Fuel Line Disconnects

... but I was curious if anyone here has ever done it.

    Thoughts ?

I use the JiffyTites as well and love them. I can have the tank off in less than a minute.
The least expensive way to increase the performance (HP, handling, etc.) is to sell your XX then go and buy a ZX-14, a new liter bike, or, *cringe*, a 'busa. If, however, you wish to stay with your beloved Blackbird, be prepared to spend a silly amount of money to end up with less than stellar results...unless we're talking about adding a turbo.

    Sounds like something to have!

I don't have turbo but, do have white plastic quick release connectors, lock-wired onto the hoses by my local dealer ( I wouldn't know how to lock-wire!!) supplied and fitted for less than £40 to both hoses, took him less than an hour, now takes me less than 5 minutes to get to the air-filter

    My thought is not.

You only mount an extra unit which can cause problems in the future.

I stick to the tubes with a clip..

By lock-wire, do mean like a crimp fitting ? I've done those on a CO2 line.

I was wondering what kind of fitting they used. Does anyone know off hand what kind of pressure the fuel line is under ? I can't imagine that it would be greater than say 45 psi or so. I've never looked at the fuel filter, so I'm guessing the fitting would be much similar as that.

    just thinking out loud...

    Hi
No, lock wiring is where they have some kind of "bailing wire" type wire which is wrapped around the pipe once then tightened by a kind of plier type gadget which then twists the ends of the wire together to make things tight and neat.
The kind of thing you have to have done to your brake bolts, drain plug and various other bits when you go racing so that nothing works loose.

    Lock wire pliers

As I said before though, I have no idea how to actually use the things!!

Thank you, xD Now I can clean the air filter more often, xD (It was a pain to get out and don't get me started on the PCIII)
