Every morning when i go out to my bird, there are about 3-4 drops of oil under it. Is this something i should be concerned about? I've heard it's normal since its a 98, 10 yr old bike.. Any ideas?

I'm no expert, but I say no. Any fluids under my bike would concern me. I have 130,000 kms on a six year old Bird. No leaks.

No that's not normal. Lots of 97 XX here with no oil leak (including mine.) Do you know where it came from?

The only time I have had oil leaks is starting on really cold days. This is because I currently have the billet aluminium reusable oil filter fitted. Aluminium has a expands/contracts more with temp changes so when it is really cold, it shrinks so much that the X-ring doesn't quit seal properly & it leaks a bit of oil (10-20ml). Once the oil is flowing, however it warms up enough, (or the pressure builds up to push the X-ring to seal), & stops.

Going back to normal steel replaceable filter will fix that for me.

there are a few different thoughts but before i start spitting out thoughts do you atleast have a general position thats the oil was under the bike?? closer to the front of the motor? towards the back? more in the middle? and how many miles are on your bike? sometimes gaskets will actually rot because a bikes goes long times without being ridden

The oil leak seems to be right under the oil pan in the middle on the left side. Now i don't know where it leaks from but that is where i will see drops of oil. The bike has 18k miles on it and is ridden daily.

Well for those who care, i took it in and it seems to be that the push rod seal is leaking. I guess this is a common problem on bikes. Good thing it's not expensive
