Did you turn the fuel petcock OFF first? I normally don't see any fuel dripping from the fuel tap. It could be that you need a new diaphram or something for your fuel tap. If you've had any problems with fuel leaks or engine surge (leaned out), I suggest that you disassemble the petcock and check for tear and wear..

Unless it becomes a problem after you've installed all the hoses and after a short ride (i.e. it reaks of fuel when you park the bike, or the engine isn't running smoothly) I wouldn't pay too much attention to it..

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the vent line ends up near the filler on the top of the tank. So moving the tank around might have sloshed some gas into the vent area and that ran out, causing what you saw.

no there are 2 vents on the bird tank 1 is for the overflow as u said but the other vent dont connect up to the overflow as i tried some petrol down the over flow at the tank filler cap and it ran out where it should have at the bottom tube connected to the tank.i dont know what the other vent is for that the petrol was dripping from when the tank was turned by hand ah well have tank back on now everything ok but still strange where that petrol was coming from
