As most of us know, the bird has an issue with noisy lifter sets...(sounds like a bowl of marbles at low rpms)

they are cheap and easy to replace (~$40 and 2 bolts)

I'm just curious, how many times have you replaced yours?
And at what mileage intervals?

I did mine at around 12,000 miles, once..

I was talking to fonz, and I guess he's never replaced his?

Where are you guys at here?

I just want to say I got my CCT from John today and replaced within 45 minutes. Did not have to take the lower cowl all the way off. I even did it while the engine was still hot. In a hurry to see if it worked.

Good news. It is super smooth and quite now. Thanks for all the help on this forum. Did a test run up the street and almost like a new bike. Before that rattle between 3-5000 rpms was a pain in the butt to listen to, but now I am good to go! This bike now has 22,000.......just bought last month and I am sure it had the original CCT.

I've kind of lost track of the mileage and the number of replacements. I know the first one I did was on my 900RR, so that is clouding my memory. I think I'm just about to install the 3rd one on the XX. Currently at 47,400 miles. I'm hoping the X-11 part that is going on this time will last longer.

Replaced my original at 8,000 miles
Now have 48,000, so that makes 40,000 on my second one.
