was thinking of doing a moto gp style exhaust for my 03 bird. was wondering if anybody has tryed this. I already have a akrapovic 421 exhaust but i hate the size of the can and want to go with a gp exhaust style and retain most of the low sound level of the can i have on it. I am trying for a more stream line look with more of a uniform look for both sides. I just hate loud bikes.
I kind of like this one on the r1 Micron Exhaust - News

i have formed a plan in my mind at the past for a handmade muffler construction which will allow the placement of the muffler below the engine and ending with 2 plain tubes sharp cut under the pillion footpegs...whole painted black exept the tube edges being steel colour burned out with a torch...(don't get me wrong .it's just my imagination, being 7 weeks in bed and on a wheelchair)...given the look of the blackbird,i'm not sure that would look good on it.....

I like the looks of the GP style pipes. In particular I like the stock pipes on the 1000RR. I think the looks of that set up is great.

lol, I absolutely HATE the new style exhausts. My favorite exhausts are the center rear outs below the rear seat. |

| I'm not sure how it would work out from a performance / noise point of view but, certainly I think the much short style pipes from the 80's looked a lot meaner. Back then a CB750F was enough for me and it only did about 130mph but, sounded like it was doing 200+ with the ultra-short Alpha 4/1 I had fitted
Maybe if the 'Bird's sump wasn't so low some of the extra pipework could fit under there like with the Buells? |

Coupled with the Triumph swingarm it's a nice looking bike, rather high mileage but, not a bad price I thought, if only I didn't already have BB I might have been making an offer. |

Will do you a shallow sump, again no spec or price though, plus he's here in the UK.
Having said that I know he supplies to USA Drag Racing customers - still can't see me buying a shallow sump kit just to fit a MotoGP Look-A-Like exhaust though!! |
