Hello... stopped in at Mobil yesterday to fill up with PULP and found that its now blended with up to 10% ethanol.... didn't think I should use it so I went across the road to Caltex.

Have browsed other posts and the web to find a definite statement on whether my 00 BB can run on a blended fuel of <10% ethanol. ... but no luck.

OK, my bike is 8 years old so i'd assume not.... however can anyone confirm for sure or point me in the right direction where I can find out? My local Honda dealer wasn't sure.

Thanks.

Mobil's Synergy 8000 (min 97.5 octane) pumps had the "may contain up to 10% ethanol blend" sticker on them and a similar label cable tied to the pump hose .... it was like "... what the hey? when did this happen?..."

(at first I thought the label was like those at some other stations that say you have to pay first before you fill up due to the significant increase in thefts thanks by a few morons who blame the rising fuel cost...)

Mobil's own NZ website doesn't mention anything about the synergy 8000 ethanol blend ... perhaps it has only just been introduced.

An ethanol blend is available from Gull stations however there aren't any located in my area.

E10 should be ok. As Dragon said, there are people in Oz who regularly use E10 and others in Brazil who are forced to use up to E25 blend. Personally, I wont use it unless there was no other choice.

I'm sure most of our gas has some kind of E blend nowadays, not sure how much.

I dont put anything other than BP ultimate in mine ( where I can help it ). The E10 is probably ok but I dont want to risk it unless thats all I can get at the time. I'm sure if there was some sort of engine damage the fuel companies wouldnt want to know about it and proving it would be an other thing.

Good question, hop down to your Italian grocer and pick up some extra virgin olive oil. Let us know it the bird will drink it.

I have run 95RON E10 in mine & noticed bugger all difference between it and 98RON V-Power and Ultimate. Slight drop in fuel economy (~0.5 - 1 km/L).

The 'bird is Japanese! No olive oil! Sake & blubber all the way!

Cheveron is my gas of choice in BC and where ever I travel. I just fed some techron to my Bird, and both cars. I can't fing Sea Foam anywhere in Van. I run 87 and on occasion I feed her 94 but I think any performance is phychological.

CanadianBird.. I use the Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner all the time.
Been using it for years in autos and bikes. Works great. I read a review of it in some magazine and they commented that it was one of the fuel additives that actually worked. They also had some before and after pics of the injectors in the write up and you could see a difference. Now I'm not sure if Chevron paid off the magazine or not but it does seem to work good in my toys.

That's good news. I bought some Sea Foam last week in Washington, what's your opinion on this product. How often do you run Techron fuel injector through your Bird? and other toys? Would you use Sea Foam as a stablizer?

I have been keeping track of my milage, (what is the metric equivalent, anyway? Kilometerage?!?!?), and found that the fuel economy effects of E10 are insignificant compared to the varying effects of traffic.

you can definatly run 10% ethanol in your bike and actually your bike will run slightly cooler but will go through a tad more gas. i was running E85 in a turbo bike for a short period of time because i was looking for something that had the effects of methanol yet still a pump gas. it worked on a set up the made 312 hp.
