Due to recent interest in map files being tossed about, what are the chances of someone computer literate going to the trouble of gathering, sorting, and posting a map database that covers both II's and III's with custom and "base" maps. The Dynojet website doesn't do a very good job of this and I'm sure their motivation is lacking ie: more folks doing independent dyno runs means more business for them ultimately. A topic header here for that purpose would be nice...

I posed that project on the original GB post. GROUP BUY: Power Commander III USB :: *ENDED*
I believe that I received a positive response at the time.
I am wondering if some clown ( )could post a map that is destructive to our engines, (i.e. excessively lean), just for some twisted kicks, (or by accident ), or does the Dynojet USB have some built in safety parameters that prevent that?

I don't think dynojet has any built in safety parameters. looks like the only way is a dynotune or compare the maps before using them. also if the exoust on the cans is to hot we have a lean problem. we have to be aware of any changes on the engine(big changes) to many power can be harmfull and could be a lean synthom, the best way is with a dyno .

I'm all for posting custom maps
once apon a time, I tried to get something similar off the ground, at one of the other sites, but was laughed at.
I am having 2 birds mapped in Havasu this coming march, and will post both maps etc up once I get back.
Sharing these maps is a good idea. As one crittic pointed out, "all the bikes are different, and it would be a crap shoot to have one map work on someone elses bike".....
Well....for the 5 seconds it takes to upload a map to your PC who cares, if it doesn't work, try a different one.
If we could get enough combinations posted, there should be something that would work for almost everyone.

Well, I've offered my map on many occasions... It's for a '99 with a K&N and Yoshi slipons running 89 octane fuel. No major gains in HP or torque, but it REALLY made the engine butta smooth. I noticed that the exhaust was less sooty and is now a nice golden tan.

map won't work on my '03, so I can't use it. I have the Yoshi RS3 cans, but
still run the stock air filter; even so, the map would probably be close enough
for me to use. I've been running one of the stock Power Commander maps for
after market cans (I think I have the Two Brothers map in there now) and it
certainly improved the way the engine runs.
If I had the money and a nearby dyno shop, I'd have a custom map built for my
set up.

| NorCalXX, my bird is similar to yours, except, given your location, I assume you have a California emissions model. My bird is a '03 US 49 States model with Yoshi RS-3 slip-ons and K&N air filters (another difference). Are you still using the stock Two Brothers map? I bought the bird used and have been running the supplied map. I was wondering if anybody out there might be able to suggest a map that would work for my setup. On the subject of shelling out dollars and pounds to dyno the bike... can the dyno adequately take into account the affect of the ram air induction system? I would think that static dyno testing would not be able to account for the active real world affect of the ram air induction system, especially at speed. Any thoughts? |
