Hi Graham,
Wow, things are progressing apace since I last looked! I just thought I'd mention that if your Dymags are magnesium you'd be better to send them to Dymag for painting. I'm sure they advise VERY strongly against blast cleaning of any kind.
Sniper back in your green days by any chance? I'm currently slogging away preparing for recruits with the Rock Apes (Pain is just weakness leaving the body etc. etc. ..... ha!)

Wreckless thanks for the heads up. Phoned Dymag today and they are emailing me a price list to referb the wheels. But to be honest I think I will prep and paint them my self.
On the other note I had heard on the grapevine that the Rock Apes were under the axemans blade, I hope not as I have worked with some and they were a top bunch of lads.
Cheers G

Well that's the end of another weekend in the workshop. Spent a nice evening with the wife and spent all day in the workshop. Started making some titanium frame plug. It's a pain waiting for all the bits to come back from powder coat but hopefully they will be back by Thursday/ Friday so I can start building up the rest of the frame. Head is back , picked it up Saturday morning, Head is all bolted up just waiting for the local Honda dealer to get me a 2.40 shim only dam one i need to shim up the cams, Should be here by Tuesday. Redial calipure are on there way so will get on with brackets as soon as thet arrive. So it is wait for this bit and wait for that bit.
But it will all be wearth it in the end I keep telling my self.
Cheers G

Dymag want to much money for the referb. So it's a respray I think but I will be using etch primer and 2 pack paint so the finish will be hard and stay on for a good amount of time.

That's a bargain cost me a lot more than that when i had my bits done by TripleS way up there in West Yorkshire.
Had some other bits done cheaply by a firm nearer home but, they were far too aggressive with the sand blasting and left little dimples in the parts - luckily it was the subframe and the fairing bracket so they don't show. |

Ok guys here are some pics of the back end bolted up. A pic of the motor hopfully together for the last time before going back in the frame. And a shot of the first offering up of the redial calipers, Started make a few notes and a sketch of what I'll need in the way of brackets.
Things are going a bit slow at the moment as I have managed to break my little finger on my right hand. Hurts like hell every time I grab a hand full of brake on my fireblade.

What a job, and congrats on getting married , all the best. Your project is just awesome, what will you have wrapped up into the bike once done?
What type of RWHP are we looking at when this is complete?

Hi Ciscokid, thanks for the congrats. I am hoping to make the 200 mark, with several grand it the motor I would be very sad to make any less. but I have gone at this project from three angle , One get as much power out of the motor as I could with out going forced induction or Nos , two make the rolling weight as light as possible and three, rejuice friction and reciprocating mass as much as possible. The goal is with all the weight reduction in the motor it will rev about 20 % faster hopfully giving better throttle response. I have put a lot of time and thought into the suspention and brakes with a view to makeing this the most ridable bike I can . I enjoy corners as much as straight line speed.

Ok, things have been moving a bit slow since I broke my finger but I have made some progress. It's been a bit easier with the bike back at my home workshop but it's still been a pain in the ass ( finger )
Anyway here are some pics of the progress,
Still not decided on the wheel colour but been looking at something like graphite grey or a greeny bronze.
Work is well under way with the brackets for the redial calipers, I got a good chunk of alloy from Ebay, nice and cheap , It's enough for the brackets and a good chunk left over.
Well that's it for the moment.
Cheers
