G'day from OZ, Can anyone recommend a set of Slip-on mufflrs for my "06" BB ? And do i have to fit aftermarket ECU to re-map engine to suit slip-on mufflers ?

Most popular are RS-3's. On OzBB there has been a few questions about Remus cans as well. Then there are Lazers If you can find any, try some oval Staintunes (not made anymore).

For slip-ons, you shouldn't need to worry about the ECU. If you fit a full system, then a PC-III is definitely in order.

I have Scorpions, came with the bike, they are good but a bit loud. I have alway like Stain-Tunes. Put them on 2 Aprilias and a VFR very very good product but not cheap here.

Hi,Black06XX I fitted Staintune ovals to my 04 BB with removable restictors,great sound and easy to fit.Part Number HO MS CBR 11 OC or phone Staintune PH(02)48 713 188 hope you find this heipful.Cheers.

OK are slip-ons with no PCIII still ok if you have a 2002 FI with an O2 sensor?

when you look on US site they stopped selling the bird over there in 03 i think but the parts will fit your 06 no changes

i have just bought a set of yoshi rs3 oval stainless steel mufflers for
$615.00 aussie $$ landed to my door in brisbane this included freight and insurance

+ what ever your bank charges for international conversion on your credit card
i got mine from morepower racing and they are a pleasure to deal with
about 7 to 10 days for delivery ex USA

they ship real quick and they have supplied a few guys from aussie recently on the ozblackbird forum

i got a quote from a local retailer and it was $1599.00 aussie $$ for the same product

even if it does run o.k without a pc111 i would still fit one just to remove the snatchiness going from a closed throttle to open again while cranked over

i now have yoshi's rs3 race cans fitted and i have tried both the zero map and a map i was sent for the yoshi's from a good mate + the pc111 map for a std bike

the zero map (same as taking the pc111 out of the loom completely) makes it seem lean off the bottom slightly and snatchy

the std bike map seems all good no problems

the Yoshi map is awesome and i am going to use that for my base run on the dyno for the custom mapping and i will be getting a map made with and without the baffles in place for those days when the neighbours need a bit of payback for all their barking bloody dogs

i am also running a K&N filter freshly cleaned and recharged

I have talked to a very renowned tuner here in AZ ... He told me that I won't hurt the bike by just adding slip-ons and it will run fine ...

He told me that the bikes with the O2 sensor WILL make small adjustments based on the target of 14.7:1 cruise as it will attempt to keep that target. But if it doesn't keep that target, there is no warning system in place to tell you it has adjusted to it's limit one way or the other .. He also said that at about 50% throttle position, it throws the O2 sensor out of the loop and goes to a pre-set power enrichment table ... The beauty of his shop is he has the latest Dynojet with eddie current load attachment and tuning link ... He will dyno tune for $250 and make a base map using tuning link, then fine tune that for best power/feel ... Bad thing is, he said liter bikes trash a rear tire in a tuning session ...

He told me that if I was at all concerned about mileage per gallon, to really think about NOT dyno tuning with the PC3... Because to tune with it, the O2 sensor needs to be by-passed. This will make me LOSE the ability of the bike to attempt to target 14.7:1 AFR (stoichiometric which is emissions term for least emmissions, and most combustion effiency based on emissions) ... He could not estimate how much economy I would lose, because he said every bike that comes in has a different state of tune. He wouldn't even venture to guess. So he said if I want long range, to re-consider pulling the O2.

That leaves me with the slip-ons ... and what to do ...

At this point, I will probably do a baseline run with the sniffer (all stock) and see what he says about what he might think will happen with the slip-ons ... I will put them on, then do a couple more pulls and see where my afr is at, then I will decide on PC3 or not based on where he thinks the bike is at ...

I happen to have a California bike with evap system and O2 sensor ... He has tuned many many XX's but no California models ... From what I read that's all they added was the O2 sensor and EVAP system ... He was telling me it might even have different cams in it ... And potentially a whole new ignition and fuel map ... He has no idea how it will react to mods ... And those of you who have over-seas bikes with different emmissions requirements can't assume our bikes over here will have the same responses to say slip-ons ...

Does anyone know what the Cali model has as far as differences with the standard 49 state version? I have read all the literature and they only say O2 sensor and EVAP

I was begining to wonder about a O2 sensor as I do not think my Bird has one. California requirement??

Well ... I just bought an insurance policy ... I found PCIII's being solf for $259 with free priority mail shipping so I picked one up ... What I might do for now is run the Two Brothers slip-on map for the time being if I need it ... What the hell it's just money right ?

Hi, I am interested in a pair of yoshi RS-3 slip ons my BB is a 2005 model, but after a few enquiries they are telling me that the yoshi pipes are only listed to fit up to a 2004 model, can anyone help here did the pipes change from the 2004 model to the 2005 model, will they fit anyway, has anyone put the yoshi slip ons onto a 2005 or later model, do they just bolt off bolt on exchange with no modifications (they tell me that the full system you must remove the centre stand)
BTW Incase it makes a differance I am interested in the Carbon Fiber cans.

....dez according to the service manual ,the cali models do have a different code on the throttle body assembly than the 49 state models....

The cans are all the same as far as fitting is concerned. From '97 on the only change I can find is that Honda included cats in later models. And I currently have the non-cat '98 cans on my '07 'bird.
