Are you referring to Bernie? I need to take my bike to him for some jetting work.

i would like to see the build sheet on that blackbird because at 200 hp it is certainly more then just a big bore kit. to get 200 out of a bird on motor you are going to need 2+mm over bore some headwork cams and valve train minimal. and you are certainly not getting that for under 2k. pistons are round $600 cams another $600 springs and retainers $400 another $400 plus for valves. thats already 2k just in hardware add another $300 for piddly stuff. then you are gonna have to pay someone for the machining work as well as an engine r&r and dissassembly and rebuild. all and all to get over 200 hp on a bird you can expect to spend over 4k if your going to do it the right and reliable way. for that money i would much rather suggest calling up hahn racecraft and getting a very basic turbo kit for 3500 and you can VERY reliably make 250hp with out ever pulling the engine out. i know this motor inside and out and have built several combinations so i know exactly what everything costs and what you can expect to get out of it. saying you will see a 25% hp increase is a very large overstatement. you are more likely to see around a 6% increase just from an overbore with stock compression and about a 10% increase if you opt to up the compression from 11:1 to 11.5:1. the fact is that the wont get a stock cylinder head to flow what it has to once you increase the bore size.
Had a 1200 engine in mine up until I damaged it on the track, have an 1100 in there just now just to keep her on the road till former glory is restored, but believe me I miss it, my current engine was dyno'd with 141RWHP with a ram air induction kit rejetted and 4-1 Akrapovic,
The 1200 has VMR cams, ram air induction, Akrapovic 4-1, carillo rods, gas flowed heads and remap to 11800rpm. for a road bike it was phenominal, standard busas could not look at it with the dyno reading 183.4RWHP
The problems I had with it were due to high oil consumption thanks to poorly sealing valve stem seals, and hopefully when the pennies allow it will be back on the road tearing up tyres again
JayO you may want to have a look at my project BB.

Still think a stock Blackbird is fast !!!!! try a turbo !!!!! It'll BLOW your mind.http://www.cbrxx.com/engine-airbox-e...blackbird.html Project 1200 the NA monster http://www.cbrxx.com/general-cbr-xx-...ct-1200-a.html
These are the Italian rumors, take a look![]()
Sharp looking bike. Did they include any tech information?
they do not, in the related article too, i'm waiting for that.
Even I think mine is REALLY enough!![]()
I red "win98 or superior"...so I get a Mac.
Gus.. Love the avatar
Boy can't help but be curious about posts dealing with big bore kits.... That pic of the Italian 1300 looks to made up, you'd think honda would install more design cues, probaly just me, but it looks photo shopped.
But now Big Bore Kits are great, I presently have a stock 02 Bird, which I love, but I went to test ride a 00 ZX-12 with a big bore kit, pistons, rods, cams, ohlins suspension, steering stabilizer... and so much more. It made me belive in big bore kits, you couldn't tell the difference between a properly built Big Bore, and stock engine, till you rode 200hp at the rear wheel bike, I'm canadian and at 130km/hr, you bring the rpm up to 7000 and crack it, well 200hp feels right on, and havin the power to play as you have the balls is cool.
Maybe this is me, I always keep my ears open for Honda to design the next Blackbird, or big bore ideas, but others on this site are right, pipe and pcIII the bird, if thats not enough, I think to buy a ZX14 for more power, thats what its made for. The bird, which I love mine is made for a certian amount of HP, you want more, buy a machine made with more stank, that will handle it. The part that sucks is the new machines suck fuel like crazy, the bird is a lot of plus features in a lot of ways...![]()
You can have the Desire and Will, but where's the power?? (current economy issues)
