Hello,
I am new to this forum and a recent convert to the Blackbird. I have purchased a 2004 model in matt black with gold wheels.

I am delighted with the bike but am just in the process of setting it up for my preferences. One issue I have is with the hydraulic clutch as follows:

My clutch engages and disengages right at the initial part of the squeeze or last bit of the release if you catch my drift!! Which means I find myself playing with the bite point at the very extreme of my reach with my fingertips!! This does not aid clutch control. I have altered the span adjustment but of course this does not alter the bite point.

Personally I like the clutch to bite midway. Is there any adjustment I can make?

Secondly would I be right in thinking I can change my cans without re-mapping?

I would certainly appreciate any assistance.

Cheers
Damon

From the convicts downunder.
Don't know too much about the clutch bite point. Mine is just right. Someone will help soon !
But a set of slip ons should not need a re-mapping ...... headers/extractors and cans will require a tweak and dynotune.

No "bite point" adjustments on the clutch. You can try bleeding the system and find that the bite point has changed, possibly.

G'day from Oz.

Try using the adjustment screw (big round knurled nut) on the clutch lever. The lever can only go out so far, if you adjust the screw further than that, it will start to change the position of the piston in the master cylinder and allow the clutch bite point to closer to the mid point of the lever travel.

I had to do this when I changed to a VFR lever (same lever but $40 cheaper than a bird lever).
