Hi all just joined. I'm from Seaford , Melbourne, Australia.
Looking for some advice about throttle locks. I would like to fit one to my 2007 Blackie, but I'm sure there is a suitable unit without it bridging the switch block (ugly).
Any Ideas???

Hi neighbour,

Plenty of info here about the Vista Cruise or Throttlemeister. Use the search function and you'll find what you need - hopefully.

We should meet up some time for a ride.

Welcome DJ1. I've got throttlemeisters on my bird, here's a link:FT&AHR2 and a pic mounted is below. I've got the heavy ones that are supposed to damp out vibration as well. As they came on the bike when I bought her used, I don't have a point of reference but I don't feel ANY vibration at all.

How they work is, you get up to speed and just twist the end, it tightens and holds your throttle open. To close you just twist it the other way (like a bottle cap) and it loosens or in an emergency just twist the throttle down. Pretty easy and install is a breeze.

Alot of great Aussies on this site, nice to get one more. Good Luck.

The TM works great on a long trip. Just roll it on, and give the hands a break. Great if you have arthritis like I do an still want to have 400+ mile days. I got the heavy set just for ease of use with gloves on.

It does have to be disassembled from time to time and the bronze bushing cleaned/lubed.

From the Northerners.
Never been a fan of 'Cruise Control' for motorcycles ... but friends swear by them.
Good luck ... Install correctly and test thoroughly before you hit the open roads !!

Caution: Knew someone that rode off the side of a mountain outside of Grafton, NSW, trying to disengage one. We were on our way to Bathurst for the Easter Bike meet (few years ago now).

This shouldn't be a problem with the throttlemeisters as you just kind of twist them to tighten. A small amount of friction to hold the throttle open not actually a "lock". You can even just twist it back to slow the bike down even if it's engaged. No switches or anything to fuddle with. Very low tech.

Works great though!
