Yeah, A good soaking never hurt anything. If you have a few days down time, put a thorough cleaning in.

Well that's it. I'm going to pull the carbs apart and replace the "O" rings and the jets maybe even the needles? I've never had good luck working on carbs like opening a can of worms plus I have fat fingers .
But taking it to a shop is just out of the question. By the way should I order a factory set of jets/o-Rings or go with something aftermarket? Did I mention that my bird is completely stock other than a K&N element air filter.
BTW - Puck, did you have to remove the carbs completely from the intakes or just leave them in place?

It will be much easier to remove then to strip them down. 4 screws to loosen from the rubber manifolds & disconnect throttle cables. Then stuff clean rags in the inlets so nothing falls in.
Much easier than trying to strip in place & much less chance of dropping anything into the inlets or just losing it around the engine!

Your jet kit will come with new needles, I reccomend the stage 1 dynokit, It will come with two sets of jets in it, one set the #140 jets is for use with the stock exaust, the othe set is for an aftermarket exaust. Also I just left me throttle cables connected and disconected the carbs from the motor.
altogether it probably took 2 hours mabie, it really wasn't that bad of a job to do. Just follow the directions, and dynojet gives you a coupon for a free dyno run, and most shops will accept them especially if they sold you your jets.
Good luck again, let us know how you do.
If you get stuck holla.

No, but I was supposed to.
I forgot all about it till I was already at that point.
I just put mine back together and hoped for the best.
Carbs 1 and 2 both leaked, I but a really thin bead of silicone on the o rings and let it set up awhile before I put it back on, it's all good now.
Thats something else I'll replace as soon as I get the chance.
I'm getting ninja skills at tearing mine apart and putting it back together.
I can have all the cowls, air box, and carbs pulled, in about 9 minutes now.

....no....no....no....silicone stuff on the the float bowl gasket...just a little to hold the gasket still in place...do not replace gasket with silicone..or if theres no other way use very little and and make sure that is proper for use with gas ....you don't wanna know whats gonna happen if silicone remains slip into your fuel bowls.....

Well I decided not to replace the jets as of yet. Took her for a long ride and she's running a lot better. Still serges a little so I'll run some more STP through her. If it continues or gets worse then I will pull the carbs. When or if i do replace the jets, do you recomend the Factory Pro Stage 1 kit or the Dyna Jet kit? Open to recomendations....
