That is a great link! I am new to the forum and wasactually searching for a schematic when I came across this site. Great information and resources to have. I have owned my '97 XX for years now and have become adicted to the power.
A few weeks back I took the bike on a 240 mile trip after it sat for a couple months. After stoping midway for a bite I could smell gas. I checked it over and could see no signs of a leak and being parked beside some other bikes I figured it was just a rich setting on one of the other bikes. I continue on and the machine performs same as always. I fill it up and take it home and it really smells. Now I am checking the tank overflows for gas thinking something came lose or I overfilled the tank. Everything is dry. The next day the garage smells like a gas can and there is a puddle of fuel under the bike and the tank is empty. WTF!!! Ok, there is definetly somethig wrong. I clean up the mess on the floor and put it aside for a week. I lift the tank up (first time I have done this on this bike) and there are hoses going everywhere. There is even one drain hose over one of the tabs on one of the main fuel supply lines comming out of the tank. There is a small nipple without a hose on it on it on the far right side of the tank (I am thinking the hose should have been mated to the underside of the tank and missed in a blind attempt by the service department). There is another hose cliped onto one of the two carb drain/overflow hoses that are crossed over eachother. It was not attaced to anything. Not sure where this should go? I have not seen this in any of the other pictures. I plan to drain the float bowls and put some carb cleaner in the next tank of gas once I replace the air filter (as long as I am at it) and get everything re-assembled. Is there an easy way to check the float needle/clean it?
Great site!
Thanks
