Hi there;

Since i have to make an expensive decision asap, i really appreciate to hear about your experiences and comments on the matter below:

Situation:

I own a '07 XX (+/- 5000 kilometers now) from a friend of mine with a stock manifold and a single Leo Vince SBK slip-on exhaust can mounted on. The second exhaust exit is closed.

A K&N air filter is present as well.

Questions:

1) I hear something about to ride an XX with a single Leo with second-gas- exit-blinded stock exhaust system might seriously damage the engine in the near future, but some technicians say it won't. They say to set up gas and air would prevent this. Which approach is true; will it give harm or not?

2) Since this possibility worries me a lot, i am thinking of replacing this single Leo with a twin Yoshimura RS-3 designed for XX. Will it worth it? What do you think about Yosh RS-3 performance with Blackbirds?

3) How much additional horse powers and torque this RS-3 set could provide approximately (even any rough ideas appreciated)? (Also a K&N air filter is present as i mentioned above)

4) Instead; how much performance increase could be provided by mounting an appropriate 4-2-1 manifold on XX?

5) Do you recommend me any other options that you know?

Your comments will affect my decision. Thank you very much in advance!

I can't comment on potential engine damage, however, it seems quite possible as you describe it. I have Two Bro Tit C 5 slip ons but I'm leaning towards a Tri Force full Tit system as the headers are tit. A full system will provide more hp and be substancially lighter. You might, however, need a pc iii plus a dyno run or so. More knowledgeable peeps will chime in soon. The jury is still out re. K&N air cleaners. Some say the oem filter is better. That being said, I run K an N.

I am not sure I understand your question ?

If you are running a Leo on one side and a stock OEM on the other then yes it may Not be good for the engine. Each pipe or can creates different back pressures. If running dual exhaust then yes run the same cans on both sides.

I have a 4-2-1 Akropovic Titanium system on my Bird and it increased my horsepower by 14 hp

No, there is only one Leo on the OEM manifold. (One exhaust exit is closed by welding)

When I got my first BB in '98, at least one can maker was selling a single system that was a slipon + slipon blanking plug.

As far as i see in the web sites; a Yoshi RS-3 full system including the manifold and the single carbon canister costs around 750-800 US Dollars in the States. Purchasing one could be a good alternative for me.

Do you have any idea about the approximate prices in European countries? (Europe should be better for me for any tax and shipping)
