I just purchased some micron slip ons for my 97 bird (got hit with the mod bug already)
some questions. please help and advise.
1. do I need to rejet?
2. if yes dyno or factory ?
3. should I put in a K&N air filter at the same time? or leave it stock airfilter.

I do not really need extra power in the bird, I bought them for the look and the sound.

(hopefully they are not too loud, the LE here have invested heavily in decibel meters and are giving out tickets like crazy)

You do not have to re-jet, but you can to remove the leaness. You can also accomplish a similiar results by adjusting the needle replacement or simply replacing one of the jets. Send me a PM if you need more info.

I did slip ons last years and felt an improved performance, then did the Dyno jet kit and noticed a little bit better performance and easier cold engine running, but also lost about 3-4 mpgs after gaining 1-3 with just the slip on alone.

In refernence to K&N, the BB do not do well with k&N, just keep the stock and save your money.

Ride safe.

I had Yoshi Slipons on my '98 bird with K&N AF. Popped a little on overrun when slowing down with throttle closed, but never had any problems and wasn't running too lean. AF mix as measured on exhaust monitor at dyno said it was ok as well.

edit: I also liked the way that on the carbed 'bird with the slipons, I could flick the run/stop switch off/on at say 3krpm or more and get a nice "pop" (well, more like a "boom" really), from the pipes, accompanied by an 18" orange flameburst from each pipe... Good for waking up dozy cagers nearby.
