    Sadly another cam chain thread

So as in the title I'm having so cam chain noise not sure if it's normal or not. But I get the stranded can of bbs noise at 3.5-4 rpm and it's not there below or above that rpm 1-4 gear but couldn't hear it in 5 and 6th it might be there but my helmet catches to much wind. The chain and tensioner are new so I'm thinking possible guides or faulty cct from the factor. Any input would be much appreciated.

CCT's can be a hit or miss sometimes. For the price it's pretty easy just to drop in a new one. I try and keep one on the shelf at all times for this reason. I'm also going to try and experiment with some old ones I have laying around. if it all works as I hope then it could extend the life of the ones we have now. I have found that the factory has them set at ten turns preload. You can add a couple turns more preload to that. So I've turned a few in a couple extra turns. I'll let you know how it works.

Turned out to be the screw for tightening the chain had some back and forth move ment at that rpm range so I put a longer cap bolt and no more noise until the 2 cct I ordered get in then the games begin.

Ok so the first phase of the testing has started. Installed an old used to rattle CCT that i took apart and added 2 turns to the preload spring. I am pleased to announce it's not rattling. I'll be tracking the mileage and I'll let everyone know when it starts to rattle again.
