    Re: A turbo project..

I will be running a Dynojet PC5 (yes you can with some soldering) together with a wideband-commander 2 and the pod-300 display to be able to log everything. Fuel injectors will be 450cc instead of 335 original size. Pump is a Walbro 255 and Fuel pressure regulator is a Malpassi 1:1. An extra map-sensor is used with the pc5 to manage the extra fuel needed under boost. Really no need to change the injection system for this type of tuning, would be possible to alter ignition also with an ignition module but for sub 300hp it is not really necessary.

Could you indicate the specifics of this?

    Re: A turbo project..

malpassie is for carb ! yours is efi carb one is for 1-30psi efi one is 30-120psi stock coils been used for up to 450 hp and the xx runs wasted spark so if you use busa stick coils that are desighned to run C.O.P the spark gets weak as the rpm increas as there desighned to fire 1 time per 4 stroke per cyclinder firing wasted spark fires every time 1-4 is at tdc and there disighned to fire like that
and instead of using pc5 i would of used microsquirt or megasquirt

    Re: A turbo project..

I know there are different ways to go. Malpassi makes both a low and high pressure regulator. This is the one for Efi and higher pressure. The carb one has one more connection than the Efi one also. I am also having some trouble to understand what your sentences mean sometimes. The stock ignition is as i said good enough and i don't really get what you mean with the busa coils. Of course if i use coils used for firing every second revolution like busa coils they probably wont manage to cope with twice the speed discharging as on wasted spark. The Pcv will be just fine and i don't see enough benefits to go for Megaquirt with the hp goal i have. If i would have gone for a dragbike and > 350 hp i would have considered using an aftermarket Efi like Megasquirt.

The Malpassi is bought from Mcxpress in Sweden and i bet you they send the right stuff, they do build some serious stuff.

    Re: A turbo project..

one of the main reason im using an aftermarket ecu is becouse at the limmeter your fuel gets cut cousing the engine to get lean and that melts your pistons also its nice to be able to retard your ignition under boost

    Re: A turbo project..

So day D came when it was time to hit the start button, pretty nervous moment..

    But, It lives!

    So happy now!

I celebrate this with some welding of the exhaust!
    DSC_0216.JPG

Done with all the electrical stuff and the Pcv is up and running with the Wideband commander 2 and the pod 300 display

This will soon become a catch tank for the crankcase ventilation
    DSC_0215.JPG

Things still to do before hitting the dyno:
    Order larger injectors
    Order a hand made muffler
Build a catchtank for the crankcase breather
    Some other minor stuff

    Re: A turbo project..

So i decided to finish the catchtank for the crankcase breather. Not gonna use a recirculating system, it seems that when turbocharging more gases escape down to the crankcase due to leakage at the piston rings. These gases will contain some fuel and its better to collect them outside the engine than in the oil. A hose down to a tap at the side of the bike so i can just open and empty it sometimes. Some baffles and stuff inside to make the fast oil collect there instead of being sent out the filter.

    Re: A turbo project..

Hello everyone, so what have i been up to the last 2 weeks.. Well i received a boost pressure gauge but i got one with the wrong scale so they will sen another one.. I have mounted the catch tank and also built a bracket for the Dynojet Pod and the pressure gauge.

    DSC_0239.JPGDSC_0251.JPG

I also ordered a handmade muffler from a 76 year old man just outside my town (Stockholm) and he has been building custom mufflers for over 30 years for hot rods and bikes. I was pretty stunned with the result i must say and the price was also extremely cheap. About 180$ for a custom 3" muffler in polished stainless.

Building the last of the downpipe and exhaust, think i have married my welding machine..
    DSC_0262.JPGDSC_0267.JPG

Got exactly the look i opted for! Cut the last bend to the right angle also to not point downwards. Pretty mean looking i think Very satisfied with the look!

Wow,the diameter of that pipe really speaks volumes.

    Re: A turbo project..

Actually the outside diameter is 110 mm as the original pipes but 3" diameter inside. Could not find any muffler in that size available so i had to go for custom and for the silencing, well it isn't very quite but it sounds nice. Doesn't sound like a straigt pipe as before.
