yes mate but if you read the thread - this is an HISS equiped bike being fitted with a none HISS equiped US version ECU so the HISS should be none functional.

    Re: PGM FI Unit

    Thanks again Geoff,

I'm going to test the fuel pump tomorrow. The tank did have a lot of crap in it and I've cleaned it as best I could. There was something in the bottom of it, my guess is some sort of preserver. It smelled terrible and was a red/blackish colour. The fuel pump itself had a black tar like substance near the base of the pump itself near the filter. My guess is that it was some sort of seal that had been eaten away by the preserver in the tank. Kinda gross. The pre-filter on the bike interested me too. I actually thought it was metal filings at first but then I looked into it a bit further. Very odd but totally understandable.

I'll carry on and report back.

    Have a great weekend!

    Re: PGM FI Unit

I pulled the fuel pump out over the weekend and hooked it to a car battery to see if I could get it to run. I did the usual, placed a wire to the positive side and one to the negative side and hooked to the battery. No sound from the pump, just a bit of electrical arching when you touch one of the leads on the fuel pump.

That could be good news as the FI unit may not come into play at all in this situation. We'll see over the next short while.

good news - had this very same problem, there are options on pumps if you want to research it, there is a 1500cc Hyudai car with a similar speced pump that you could get from a breakers for a fraction of the dealer price - up too you.

I'd still be a bit worried about the FI light staying on, this usually indicates a problem that will not allow the bike to start, if you look in chapter 5 of the manual (downloadable from here) it shows the types of faults that can cause this including the ecu. Could also need thw loomfix done.

Well the plastics are all on and I'm just waiting for the fuel pump to arrive. We'll see where we have to go after that.

Luckily I'm not in any rush and if the bike doesn't run after the fuel pump install I'll just keep poking away.

Thank you again for your help! We'll see what the coming days bring.

    Re: PGM FI Unit

My apologies for not getting back until now. The bike did require the Australian HISS FI unit with a new key. Unfortunate but a necessary evil. When the guys started the bike the first time it was running rough. Three of the four injectors were plugged so they cleaned them and put in four new spark plugs.

Thank you again for your help! Always appreciated.
