Here's my question concerning door #1. How long do you think it would take for a well trained tech to do this install? Take off the necessary parts and install the kit. I'm not interested in suggestions of "it's easy to do yourself" or the like. It's one think to shell out for the kit but it's another for installation including a dyno. This is a added cost and one I must factor in.

A very good question ... Thankyou... IMHO a good tech should get the entry level kit fitted in 12 -14 hour ( there being a little more work on the Fi over the carbie) Personaly I think I could do it in 8-10 hours but then it's my kit and I know a little bit about Blackbirds.
As for setup and tuning that would be down to how good you guy is. The basic setup information that comes with the kits will get you well in the ball park.

Thanks Graham, it's the info I was dreading. Cheers I hate the thought of being retired and getting a p/t job. Back to the Lotto.

That will depend to great extent on which turbo was installed Ball bearing would spool up almost straight away. T25 oil float bearing 3-4 k rpm

At 3-4k rpm that sounds fine, are you guys close to finalizing pricing and linking to the site , what type of lead time is one looking at once an order is placed?

Re: The Velocity Shack Turbo kit for the Blackbird

Guys, it's not us dragging our feet...we're waiting for prices from another supplier and then we can nail things down.
For you guys stateside, shipping will be from New Jersey.
I'll provide tech support as will Graham.
Deposit and final payment might be half down when the initial order is placed and final payment when ready to ship.
Hang in there guys and thanks for the interest...

    Yes and no...lol
We are currently working on kits for 2 customers.
After discussing different options, both decided on the intercooled kit.
They opted to take the safer route rather than the less expensive one.
Carbed turbo kit, while individually priced, will be around $4500.00.
This will yield 185 HP to 225 HP, depending on a few options and the boost level chosen.
    Thanks for asking...
    Hank

Can you clarify the "safer route" rather than opting for the less expensive kit. I am curious to know what cost is for entire entry level kit offering 180-190hp. Thanks

Re: The Velocity Shack Turbo kit for the Blackbird

Safer route means .70" head gasket and inter cooler and a few other bits.... The low pressure kit runs the stock compression and must not run more then 4-5 psi and needs to run quality fuel or damage will result , the head gasket and inter cooler gives a greater safety zone or allow you to run higher boost.
The $4500 is a guide price of the carbie kits with no extras and basic parts. The two kits we are building at the moment run a little more cost as they have ask for a higher spec's on some parts and have the potential to make more power in the future.
As Hank said we tailor all the kit to the person after several chats with them as to what they are looking for.
