    Throttle position sensor?

    Guys.

Can anyone tell me what a TPS does, have you replaced one before/why and if it starts to fail, would it cause my 2000 Bird to over fuel and run crap. I have checked the Fuel pressure reg, changed the plugs and air filter, tested the vacuum pipes and drained the tank. Fault code shows 25 blinks which = knock sensor fault, but that has been tested. The FI light keeps coming on even after the loom fix and my bird runs rich. I am totally stumped now HELP?

    Re: Throttle position sensor?

The throttle position sensor (TPS) is a variable resistor that gives its signal to the ECU..its role is to give the throttle position to the ECU ...is located at the right end of the throttle body...

Will it run without the TPS plugged in?

    Re: Throttle position sensor?

Hi. Did you ever sort this one out? I have all the same symptoms, and have been told it'll cost $2500, as the TPS is integrated with the throttle bodies. ie not available separately. Surely it'd be possible to graft in an aftermarket TPS?!?

    Re: Throttle position sensor?

I'm going to be following this, I don't get the error code but I am running rich, the only solution I have found is a power commander and lean out the map.

    Re: Throttle position sensor?

The TPS sensor on the carbies is just to fine tune the ignition. Carbed birds will run all day without the TPS plugged in. The TPS sensor is a very vital sensor in injected birds. Without that sensor, the ECU doesnt know if youre giving it gas or letting it idle!
