'Bird is no longer on Quebec's dreaded Super Sport list!

Yes that's right my feathered quebecquois friends, our bikes have apparently been reclassified by SAAQ as "regular", not Super Sport.
We therefore will be paying $518.00 in May for the plate, as opposed to the insanely over-inflated $1030 that we would of this year had it stayed categorized as an SS.
As an extra bonus, the resale value seems to have already shot up $1000 or more judging by recent classified ads.
I know a few people that were talking about lobbying to get this done last year on the basis that ZX11's and other big-bore sport tourers were exempt, would love to know who to thank for this!

Nope, I'm as confused as you are. We pay about 75 or 80 bucks, I think, for a sticker. I don't know what this is all about.

Re: 'Bird is no longer on Quebec's dreaded Super Sport list!

Nope, believe it or not guys, those prices are for real
However, part of the reason we pay so much in Quebec is that our personal injury and equipment insurance is covered by the plate, so the insurance we have to buy - liability / collision - is somewhat cheaper (my liability-only policy is $245).
What's really maddening is that 2 years ago they decided to lump virtually anything with low bars and a fairing into a so-called "high risk" category that doubles the plate price, as in over $1000 this year. Even the Duc 900SS I sold last year with its whopping 70 hp is on the hit list. There is no consideration for your driving record or accident history... that of course would be far too fair.
I've heard that this is also what's happened with the insurance pricing in Ontario.
It would be interesting to do a poll on registration costs (plate +insurance) to see how things measure up elsewhere.

    Interesting.
Essentially our plate is the road fees and your "comp 3rd party" combined, so looked at that way with AUD/CDN exchange figured in we're about even.
The comprehensive is even about the same, if I wanted to upgrade I've been quoted around $500 - $600 CDN, or around $700 AUD

I haven't heard anything about that. I hope you are wrong. As I said, it costs about 80 bucks for an annual sticker (we own our plates, as you know) and my insurance is about 900 per year for a million liability, all perils coverage, and collision, with a 500 deductible. If I just wanted 500k liability only, it would be around 700 per year.
