I took the plug off today to see if it was what was makeing my light come on. the plug was perfect no corrsion.
the Fi light comes on after I ride it about 1 mile and stays on. I can turn the bike off and start again it will come back on in about a mile and stay on. I did the check on the Fi, start the bike with the kick stand down but the Fi light did not come on.
can you think of anything I can check now thanks, Ron
I tried the troudle shooting guide but it did not work. I put the bike on the side stand started it and the Fi light didn't come on. I jump the plug to clear the faults, this is as far as I got. I won'ted to see if there was something else I could do befor I put it back togeather. when the light comes on I can't tell any difference in the run of the bike, it will stay on all day. seam to run fine.
I will pull the plugs. one other thing. I was running a pc11 til it started running rich. the Fi light would come on whenever. it would stay on once it came on I could turn off the ing. and restart it it would come back on sometimes, you never know if or when. after I removed the PC11 I have not had any trouble with it til now, last 2 or 3 weeks, now what do I do? can not have my bird sick!!!!!! Ron
There have been reports of PC-II's causing FI problems, but if it still malfunctions with the PC-II removed, that doesn't seem to be the problem. Do you get any codes when the FI light comes on? If not, I suggest you make certain that your ECU codes are cleared.
The sequence for checking/resetting codes can be a little tough to follow if you're trying to do it by yourself. I understand that disconnecting the battery for several minutes will also reset the ECU.
You DO have the side stand switch intact right? You haven't bypassed it? If you have, the FI code sequence will NOT appear when you put the stand down because the ECU thinks that the stand is always up.
my bird use to do the same thing and I check the loom and it did not show any damage, but since she kept doing the problem I desided to fix the loom anyway, I had read so many people with the loom problem. when I started to cut the wires I found that the wires it self had some kind of a green stuff, it looked like corrusion. when I finish with it the f1 lite came off and haven't had any problem with that since thaks to god. I really hated that lite. I'm runnig a pc11 with a full yoshi exoust and haven't had no problem for a year now. Good luck and keep us posted
I would at least try it. When I first got my XX, I was trolling the sites and this issue came up a lot. My FI light would come on after about 1 mile, then blink with the blinkers, and get brighter when taillight was illuminated. Got to my loom and it looked pristine. Followed everyone's advise, and it hasn't come on since. What's it gonna hurt??:idunno:
XXSTAR,
I had a similar situation occur with my '99. The FI light would illuminate while riding intermittently but would not at idle with the stand down (stand switch intact). Later though, the light came on much more regularly and finally the code sequence showed up at idle. It gave codes for the MAP sensor and the KNOCK sensor. I tested them per the Honda service manual guidelines and they BOTH required replacement. Keep in mind, I had a K & N filter and the D & D full system on there with no power commander or other electronic fuel control. My best guess is that the bike ran too rich for thousands of miles and fouled up the sensors. When the knock sensor went, I was getting blue flame backfires on sudden deceleration. All that is to say that it may be that one or more of your fuel/air control sensors may be on its way out. Not dead yet, but dying.
Another thing you might wish to look at is the wiring to your throttle position sensor. It caused similar symptoms on my '01 when a ham fisted dealer mechanic (I use the term loosly) managed to pinch the signal line on mine.
Once fixed, the problem went away and hasn't come back since.
Ron, I have had my FI light come on but only after I wash the bird. I am not sure why or what causes this to happen but after it dryes up the light will stay off. Any input on this will also be apriciated.
Thanxx Mark
Ron, give me a chance because I have the complete, pdf shop manual but it dose'nt let me copy the page where the nock sensor and the way to test it , I'm triing to take the page out of the pdf , as soon a can do that, i'll post it here to trie to help you :thumb:
I printed and scanned the relevant pages although I see someone beat me to it with the whole manual. Sorry about the quality but, with some squinting, you can read the text.
well, this now, when I 1st start it I light is off, hold the RPM at about 3,000 it drops to about 2,200 then the light comes on. I took it around the block and you could tell it was down on power. when I got back to the shop it went dead 2 times, but started right up. today I am going to do the loom fix. I no you all are tired of my problems. But my BIRD IS SICK we got to get it better.
here is a few things I did this summer, I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not. the bike was running very rich on a trip, so I took the PC-11 of after a few miles the smout cleared up off the tip of the exs.it has been running fine til now and I put a new battery on it and when I started it all this happend. the old battery, turned over 2 or 3 times and quite. didn't thing much about it, I charged it over nite but it would not take a charged.
when I get the loom done I will post.
thanks Conqsoft and Jette and everyone else. u guts are great, Ron
hey, looks like everyone beet me to it jajajaja, thats the good thing about been here, anyway hope you find the problem :thumb:
