Howdy, All.

A few weeks ago a buddy and I were riding up to Central AZ when we met a fellow riding a Suzuki. I noticed that he had a video camera mounted to a bracket that attached to the fuel tank ring with what appeared to be a horseshoe arrangement (i.e., the forward half of the circular ring) and the polished cap screws were, naturally, longer. The radar detector was attached across the handlebars but I couldn't tell what the attachment consisted of. The camera would look out the windscreen and you could see the speedometer/tach in the view.

Does anyone know where/who makes these sorts of things for the BBXX? I should mention that it seems the camera bracket was machined out of an aluminum billet.

Lastly, this same chap had his iPod and Radar Detector wiring interconnected so that he could cruise with music but the R.D. would come on his headset when activated. So the question is: Who makes a splitter to permit listening to music and allow you to plumb into the R.D.

As an aside, for those that run R.D., what brand(s) are you finding to be the best in terms of sensitivity, minimal false return, etc?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks.

E-bay has the camera mount. Don't know about the other stuff. I'm thinking about an IPOD tank bag setup for mine. Cheers and welcome from the windy city suburbs. You're gonna love your 'bird and this site. There is another site as well, cbr1100xx.org.

Howdy, XXNUTZ.

Thanks for the site information. I have several friends in and around Granite City, IL so maybe one day we'll get to hook up in your neck of the woods.

Thanks.

Howdy, Chris.

Thanks for the heads-up and information. I checked out the above website and looked at the unit being sold. Looks pretty good and the price is reasonable as well. Best thing, though, is there is a cycle place nearby that has it in stock...I saw it last week when I was there. Will have to save some bones to get it later, but I don't know if I want a dedicated unit like this or something hand-held I can use for other purposes.

As for the radar detector, I think I'm going to settle on the V940 by Beltronics. It seems to have most of the points I'm looking for and is getting great reviews. Best thing is that when buying it through Circuit City, they throw in the wiring harness for free, a $30.00 savings, although I'm tempted to buy a spare harness and mounting hardware so I can also use it in my car or truck. I can't find any information about an audio interface, though, so I can plumb it into my headphones. Hmm.

Once I get it mounted I'll write a brief review in the electronics section of this site and let folks know what my experience and impressions are.

Thanks again.
