| Tank mounted laptop bag?
Was looking for luggage a day or two ago and came across a laptop case that mounts using your gas cap ring and keeps the bag up off the paint. I commute to work and have been strapping my bag on back and thought this looked like a neat idea but no one local has one in stock so I would be ordering blindly and hoping I liked what I got when it arrived. Anyone have any experience with one of these?

i havent see what you describe but i believe it's all about laptop size..i own a 12 inch screen laptop so small as a school book ..it can fit easily on my tank bag leaving me space even to connect peripherials..! a good magnetic tank bag was the solution for me ,i just choose a model with good quality antiscratch coating for the side that is placed on the tank..

Givi has a relatively new product, a trolly/carry-on style laptop bag that clips on to their luggage racks just like a hard case would. Not cheap, but looks like a nice product. I have seen the bag set up that you describe but have not used it. The bag itself looks to be of good quality. The locking ring attaches on the gas cap. From looking at it I would think that the bag could rock around a bit and make contact with the tank but the underside of the bag seemed to have some soft material so I don't know if it would cause any scratching of the tank as the bag moves around. I believe that they have them at the twisted throttle web site for ordering. I do commute to work as well and carry a laptop bag that I've been strapping to the rear seat. I too have been looking for a tank bag but am leaning towards a bagster set up. If you are not familiar with the bagster set up it has a cover that goes around the entire tank. The cover has some anchors that the bag attaches to. You just leave the cover on all the time and attach the bag as needed. |

I also have a bagster cover & tank bag. Mine is one of the standard mid sized bags & carries my Asus F3J 15.4" quite well. And the rain cover works well when that happens too!

I have the bagster as well. I like it. It holds my laptop. The bag detaches and you have straps. Looks just like a backpack. With the bag off the tank has a full cover tank cover.

Which bag do you have? Mine is a basic rectangular one with just a long shoulder strap. And the rain cover has split open now. |

I have the Bagster Minea or something like that. They have pictures of the bag and tank cover on the bagster web site. Taetor has the same bag I believe and there's a thread up here somewhere about the bagster set up where he has some great pics. The bag is also expandable. Without my bag expanded my laptop fits but it is a little tight. Easy enough to get in and out though.

I had a look at the site & my bag isn't even listed any more! It is the old basic expandable rectangular bag. Do the new ones still have the built in rain cover? Or are they just basically waterproof?

Mine came with a rain cover folded up in an inside pocket. I have the same set up as what Taetor has in the attached link with pics. new Bagster Cover & Minea bag Now my laptop just fits in this size bag without it expanded. In pics on their web site they show the bag enlarged large enough to hold a helmet. They do sell larger bags. I think that there was a thread where Conqsoft had one of the larger bags and felt that it was too big. Last edited by Strek; 07-13-2009 at 9:06 AM. |

Nice tailbag, but I already have the Bagster cover, and I'm not certain how well it would sith on the GF&L... ![]() Yes, mine has the cover in the internal pocket as well. Just a pity the clear plastic has torn. I like the look of the Tech-City.

If you mean the Tech-city in my post, it is a Bagster, so it uses the hooks & loops on the Bagster tank cover. If you mean Heisti's, as a tailbag, I'm guessing it will use the luggage tiedowns. I tried to include a link, but the Bagster site is all frames, so it only linked to the front page. |

Banshee... I was inquiring about yours. I didn't see that bag as an option when I purchased mine last year from bagster. I didn't know that bagster had a bag like that. Seems as it would suit the purpose of carrying a laptop a touch better then the Minea that I have. Looks like its a touch longer. My laptop fits in the Minea but its snug.

Probably one of their new ones to replace discontinued items. The basic rectangular bag I have isn't even listed any more!
