    Temperature reading ..Help !

Hi all, I have a 07 bb and recently i realized the temperature reading getting weird, it will display a random number from 80 to 110degc ie. 80,89,84,110..etc..on the move. But the temperature will stay constant when the bike is idling. Does anyone faced similar problem ? I have no clue where to stay investigating. Can someone help . Thanks !!!

Check the connector to the sender unit and also the connector(s) at the back of the dash.

Download the manual from the resource centre if you dont know how to get to them.

But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Does it do this when the ambiant temp outside is constant? Idling in hot traffic? I have no bright ideas, just silly questions. Yesterday when riding up a mnt from a hot dessert area the temp gage dropped a few degrees with the gained altitude. Maybe it's time for a flush and new coolant. Good Luck.

Did you actually pull the connectors off and check for corrosion to both parts of the connector, or did you just wiggle the wire and go 'yep, that's not loose'?

    Re: Temperature reading ..Help !

The connector is ok ... This symptom happened only the bike is on the move. I stop by the road side left the bike idling for a while and I see the temperature is normal about 105~108 with the fan kick in n out. But once on the move again...the temperature reading starts jumping randomly. Does the ecu control the temperature display ..? I would pray hard that ecu is not burnt if that the case..

    Re: Temperature reading ..Help !

The ECU doenst actually controll the temp display bit the wiring from the sender does go through the ecu..

I very much doubt that you have a ecu fault.

Your fault description indicates that the problem is more likely a wiring issue like a bat earth or poor connection

If it was an ecu fault then the problem should be there all the time and not just when moving.

The moving part is what to me give you your best indication, when the bike is stationary with minimal vibration all is ok but when moving an you have g forces affecting wire movement and also road vibration then the problem occurs...

check your wiring over carefully, particularly the earths, break, inspect and recconnect wiring connectors..

Make sure that the ECU still has the rubber retaining strap holding it down as this has caused issues before..
