I was wondering if anyone is using this kit? They are on sale at Cycle Gear for 50% off and I was thinking about trying them out. Just wondering about the quality and the brightness.
I've got a set of 6000k HID,s which are great and with the mini transformers they easily fit into the nose cone. One things is that they are too high and I can't seem to be able to adjust them??
Go to DDM Tuning's web site and you can spend less, get proven HID stuff, adn choose whatever color temp you want. If your being able to se at night is the #1 priority, then you want 4300K. If you like the look of a bit of blue tint to it but still value performance #1, go to 5000k (or get the 55w 5000k, as the extra power washes out the color almost back to 4300k level).
Ordered the H7s 4300K from vvme.com; pricing is around the same. Using it only on the low beam; works beautifully. Bought it on heisti's recommendation if i remember correctly.
I didnt' say that it was blue, I said that it has a blue tint. If you see it next to 4300k you can see it. The higher the color temp, the bluer the light. the ones that look blue coming at you are typically 6500k. Purple is 10000k.
Marty if you need a hand give me a holler. Layed off Friday so i will be working projects here and i could give a hand if needed. you'll want to incorporate a relay and delay to keep ther light from firing twice. You can incorporate the setup that is listed here. http://www.cbrxx.com/body-paint-ele...itches-we-don-need-no-steenking-switches.html
You'll also want to put a relay in and run the balast power straight off the battery through a fuse to keep it from flickering when the fans cycle in the AZ heat we see here in traffic.
Should finish up the installing the rebuilt 6 speed in the camino tomorrow. I'll get the bird up on the lift and take some pics of my relay installs for you. I used Shewies idea with the oil light for the delay and also relayed in the main power from the battery to stop the blinking at an idle in traffic when it gets hot out here and cycles the fan.
Funny you mention that, BT. I recently updated that thread to include the second relay I installed shortly after the original install to cure a low voltage condition at the ballast.
Yay that blinking it traffic is a b!#$% but it does get attention from folks thinking something is wrong. Hell on the ballast though.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
