Sydney to MotoGP - Best roads?

Anyone got good suggestions for an itinerary covering the best roads to and from the MotoGP?

This year will be my first run, and would like to make the trip as good as the event. Will take a few days off either side to allow time for plenty of backroads

Or perhaps just follow the rest of the crowd?...

Thanks!

Re: Sydney to MotoGP - Best roads?

As you cross the border into Vic at Tintaldra, Take the Gunya road, down to Mt Beauty, then across to Bright Via Tawonga Pass, Then Myrtleford, Whorouly East, Bobinawarrah. Edi,King Valley, Whitfield,50 odd KLMS of twisties and veryfast sweepers. Mansfield, If you dont mind 15 KLMS of dirt, Jamieson to Eildon, 61 klms of mind blowing twisties,
Thornton. Taggerty.

Or Mansfield to Yark, across to Taggerty, then Buxton, Marysville, Reefton Spur to Reefton and Warburton, Yarra Juntion, Gembrook, Packenham. Koo Wee Rup, The Island.

Taggerty to Narbethong, Blackspur, Healseville, Woori Yallock, Yarra Junction, Gembrook, Packenham, Koo Wee Rup, The Island,

Google Maps, Put in the start and finish between towns and it will give you more detail.

The 15 KLMS of dirt is reasonable. I did it last week end, I did it twice for the roads on both ends, no cars and no cops. Magic road.

Some of our best roads are on here, ENJOY,
Cheers,
Brian.

Re: Sydney to MotoGP - Best roads?

Bright Mt Hotham to Omeo is currently closed, due to snow and Black ice,

All the roads I have listed are below the snow line, I will check Reefton and the Black Spur, But I think they will be under the snow line,

Around Lake mountain could be dicky tho.

Cheers,
Brian.
