Re: Tyre

I went to Freestyle Honda in Frankston. They stuffed up my order (forgot to order the tyre I asked for), but they had the balls to get in their car and drive to a competitor, buy the tyre I wanted , drove back and fitted it for me while I waited. It is that sort of back up that makes me want to go back.

Re: Tyre

Thanks Paul.
For your very quick reply,
What tyres are you running, Would Honda Metro in Ringwood do the same,
I am running a dunlop 205, Or should I say, was,
I have no idea on tyres for my bird, as I have not had it long enough to find out, Its only done 5000 klms since new,
Your advice would be appreciated.
Considering Melbournes wet conditions,
Thanks,
Brian.

Re: Tyre

This tire was not made for dual sport bikes it was made for high performance machines designed after wet track racing tires. I really like the tire great tread pattern and in rain nothing better. I put them on my 98 xx and my 02 xx.

Re: Tyre

Handles very well and I can tell when it needs replaced before the steel shows through. I don't do any knee dragging on the tracks so the tires work well form me.

Re: Tyre

Deadman... we had a thread up here with a poll about our favorite tires. I personally like my bridgestone BT014s. It seemed that the most popular tire on that thread were the Michelin Road Pilot 2's as I recall. I could be wrong about the paticular tire name.

Re: Tyre

heisti I don't have enough miles to tell only about 1k but so far so good. I'm hoping to get more miles out of this tire as all the others wear so fast and handling goes down hill so quick.

Re: Tyre

Brian,

Pilot Road2 is an excellent tyre F & R for the bird, i have had a couple of sets, great wet or dry, and wear is excellent. In Sydney, about $500 pair fitted to the bike (they R & R wheels from bike).

Re: Tyre

Thank you all for your quick replys, I now have had it repaired and rebalanced by Pablo's in Mulgrave, and it will be back on the bike this afternoon.
Excellent service, I was under the impression you could not repair a tubeless tyre. But he assured me it was safe for high speed cruising. But at least I now know what to put on it when it is due to be replaced,
Thank you.
Brian.

Re: Tyre

Now have 17,000 klms on the bike, I got 15,000klms on the front Dunlop 205.
The repair did not work, so I put a Metzler V6 on the rear, its almost Kaput after 14.500 klms, Both tyres have been excellent, I had to put a road 2 on the front as the Dunlop was bald and thats all the dealer had, He had a dunlop tyre there, but I had never heard of it, so I would not touch it, Tralgon bike shop fitted and balanced it, excellent service, good workshop out the back, I was on my way up and over Mt Hotham via the Great Alpine Road and my bald front would not have made it. Everything was closed Easter Monday, So I had to wait till Tuesday to get the tyre on the way, It rained heavily coming over the top of Mt Hotham and all the way to Bright,
Both tyres slipped coming down from Mt Hotham through the twisties, oil film on the road, Quite scary for a while, but once the road was washed of the oil film, no problems with either tyre,
Cheers,
Brian.
