Heading out the east of the city. Looking at meeting about 9.30am city bound westgate shell servo for a 10 oclock meet at the mobil petrol station at the junction of wellington road and stud road.

I am also inviting members of another forum so bring along whoever and we will see how it goes. will decide on route when i see numbers/experience and preferences etc.

If anything changes or i organise a route I will post uo here. Will look at weather on friday afternoon and make the call.

Maybe see some of you there.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

Slow coach, Are you going east, north or south from wellington and stud rd corner, The pub has a big carpark right on that corner. If you are going north, I can meet you around Lilydale, If you are going south, I will have to get off my butt and meet you at wellington rd. Weather permiting, I am not keen on riding, if it is bucketing down. sort of takes the fun out of it. hahahaha
Whats the other forum.
Brian.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

Had no real plans as yet but can was looking at heading up your way. so when I have a better idea with timings etc i will give you a shout.

Snap on the weather. I commute on my bike so sometimes have to ride in the rain. Do not plan on riding in the rain for pleasure.

The other forums are ozblackbird and netrider.

Thanks mate for the info, I did six bloody years, rain. hail or sunshine. my Bonnie was my only transport,
brians@hard.net.au
Its safer to ride in the sunshine these days, End of the week this crap might have blown over, it is summer, but as you know, five seasons in a day in Melbourne, hahahaha

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

I,m happy to meet up at wellington/stud rd junctions, but i thought i could hook up with you deadman on the way through. I would be coming past your place so if you want to ride to the junction together or whatever.Anything could change between now and then, like i could get snowed in or something. It has happened before.....on christmas day infact.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

I went for a ride on the Spur today, and some one had dropped his bike, he seemed ok, had a heap of his mates with him to help.
I hope you get well soon, Joe.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

Birdpilot and I can meet you at the York on Lilydale pub at the corner of Canturbury road and York rd, Mt Evelyn, big carpark on the corner, you cant miss it, its a big roundabout at the turn off to My Evelyn, on Cantubury Rd,
There are some excellent bike roads up here, too many to mention here, but we can discuss it when we meet,
Go north on Stud rd, turn right at the end, T intersection, turn left at the lights after you cross the railway line, turn right into Canturbury rd, second roundabout in Canturbury rd, its in front of you, you are there. You cant miss it.
0417 150 649 If some how you get lost,
Brian.
PS, I hope its not raining.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

Any ride is a good ride as far as i'm concerned slowcoach.Mt donna buang is a good run, or the circut that deadman has posted up here.Distance is not a problem for me,we could go to the snowys if you like.If you are planning on coming out through lilydale you could meet myself and deadman somewhere, possibly at the canterbury/york junction that he mentioned above.I am happy to do whatever as long as it involves riding and lunch somewhere,i've got all day.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

Hi again guys

Of course Victoria being the place it is, we have one of our driest years on record, yet come summer and time for weekend riding and the forecast is for showers for 7 days in a row........

Hopefully for you guys, like all the rain they have been promising for the last 2 years, it doesn't eventuate, at least on the weekend anyway.

Nutter, no I didn't end up in dandy hospital, just in footscray hospital a few days later when hand swelling wouldn't go down.
Hope to have cast off before xmas, but may take a little while longer to replace helmet, jacket and gloves....maybe santa will surprise me.

Joe

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

Swansea Rd and Canturbury Rds are the same street, Slowcoach is meeting at 10-00 am at the Stamford Hotel in stud rd, so give him half an hour to get here, so we all meet at the York at 10-30 am, Donna Buang sounds good or we could go on to Reefton and through to Marysville for lunch, I dont know what the riders capabilitys are, that are coming along, But these roads are all good roads for a bike, I came through there on Monday with no problems. If some Riders are inexperienced they can just putt along at their own pace, As they cant get lost, Its only one road. and it is good for learning, If they take it slowly. And they will end up at Marysville anyway, and they have to go past the cafe every one is sitting at, The rain is forcast for tomorrow evening
and Friday. so it might have blown itself out by Saturday.,
This is only a suggestion, but it is up to everyone to decide,
Good to see you getting better Joe, Catch up to you in the new year, hope your bike isnt too banged up.
Over to you Slowcoach, what do you think.
Brian.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

Its actually a good road to learn on, but they must take it easy, Slowly,
If you putt through there quietly and at your own pace, It will improve your riding skills imensely, With anything, you must crawl before you can walk.
The bird is the first bike I have been on in twelve years, and I am just putting on miles to regain my riding skills, It will take me some time yet, before I am hanging out again. I have only done 3500 klms since June, Love my Bird.
Cheers,
Brian.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

Was looking at Reefton because I have still to ride it. Yes been here a year. And I have only done Donna Buang once and loved it. Looking at a map at the moment. Most of the other riders will be experienced. But can talk at the meet point to gauge thoughts. will put a google map together. Cheers guys.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

Have a look at these.
riding the blackspur.
reefton spur.
The condition of the roads are excellent. I went through Reefton in June, black ice is not fun. I went through on monday and it was perfect, came back through the spur, perfect also. Went up and back through the spur last night, bloody freezing, but the road condition, perfect.
These are good roads even for a novice to learn on, but they must take it easy,
Brian.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

I am really happy with any of the above mentioned plans. They are all good roads and i have ridden them all many times. Now where to stop for lunch? Buxton pub is good, marysville has a bit to offer as well but i suppose it depends on where we go and which way we go there.

Re: Melbourne ride 6th december.

Buxton Pub is a lot quieter than Marysville, Depends on the rest of the blokes and shiela's coming, what do they think.
Saturday is going to be fine in the Morning, Showers predicted for very late in the day, might get a wet bum coming home, stiff cheddar, but they did say late. and it might not eventuate, it has supposed to have been raining for the last two weeks,???????????? I did not see much of it.
I will still be at the york Saturday 10-30am,
Brian,
