Hello fellow bird fans/owners ,my 04 bird has been off the road for months with electrical issues to say the least i had a huge open circuit spike from my reg which killed my battery all my fuses some of the relays some bulbs and my gps charger-dc convertor , I have basically had to check the condition and operation of every electrical circuit on the bike from scratch .Bitter sweet for me as these dramas always seem to happen to me but lucky for me im a qualified mechanic as the labour charge would have been something to behold from honda... got the bird running again with everything going to spec all except the speedo pulse apparently ,the speedo does its full sweep on startup but then has no speedo reading got code 11 happening on ecu speedo reads zero ,have done the very vague checks straight from the manuals posted on this site to no avail and basically narrowed it down to faulty speedo sensor according to me 90% sure.....Im in SE subs of melb if there is anyone that would lend me there speedo sensor for 15 mins just to prove it 100% before i fork out more hard earned on a new sensor i will do all the work and it will be greatly appreciated should only take 30mins in total to do.

I have said it before and i will say it again....I love my 99 with the old gauges. Alot less issues with electric problems.....Other then the loom fix which is nothing...

I hate to break it to you, 99, but your gauges are electric too. The only difference is how they display.

Hey Birdlover, have you tried removing the said sensor for inspection?
Maybe give it a whack of two with a small hammer and see if it makes any difference, both while on the bike, and off the bike?
Hope you get it sussed man and get her back to 100%.
