New Bird owner looking for luggage.

    New from Lara.
G'day. Got an December 01 built bike with 14,000kms on the clock. Just fitted Ixil Slip on pipes with baffles removed and I'm looking to fit a Givi Monokey Topcase. The bigger the case the better.I want to be able to fit two(2) full sized helmets in it. Perhaps someone here knows where's the best place to source rack and topcase without spending a fortune!
By the way, the bike is black!
    Regards Carson

Welcome! I never heard of a case that big. I have a large duffel bag soft pack that might hold two(2). Me, I wear one(1) on my head and don't need three(3). ;-)

Any top box over 42Lts (preferably over 48Lts) will fit 2 full face helmets no probs!
You may have to fit one on its side and the other standing up, still its no prob, they will go in.

I'd be looking on ebay if I were you. Prolly cheapest solution is a used item from there..

Re: New Bird owner looking for luggage.

From memory mine is a Givi Monokey Maxia which I think is 45 litres. I bought it because it would take 2 full face helmets. I've had it about 13 years. I've just fitted a new rack to the 'bird to take it. The rack is a SW Motech which comes with an adapter plate for differant makes of box. It mounts in place of the grab handle and the adapter plate fits to it with 3 1/4 turn screws for easy removal (can't access them when the box is mounted so it's safe). If you don't have the box and adapter mounted then the rack is very minimal and mounts lower than the Givi. I got the rack from JAWS and there are pics on his web site.

    Have a look at this:

CBR1100XX HONDA SUPER BLACKBIRD GIVI LUGGAGE RACK ARMS on eBay (end time 23-Jan-11 19:50:11 GMT)

If you get it cheap enough, then you can always source a box to go with it either locally or on the bay...
