    Possible--scratch that-- new Blackbird owner!

    *merged*
Looking at a 2002 with 14000kms on the odometer and would like to know what would other 'Bird' owners recommend for an exhaust system. I find the original pipes too quiet and so wish to know what would be best.
    IE: two brothers, yoshi etc...
Also, would I need a Power Commander and have it dynoed, air filter change?
Any help on this would be appreciated.

For slip ons you don't need a PCiii. The jury is out on K&N, consider sticking with oem. A full system will need a dyno and pciii. I run TwoBro Titanium C5's slip ons. I have dynoed my Bird and I do run a K&N and have for many years. I do have the oem filter but haven't bothered to replace the K&N I just clean it fairly regularly. If you go full system you will begin to run up the costs. FI ecu will compensate for slip ons. '02/162,000 kms.

re: Possible--scratch that-- new Blackbird owner!

Welcome, Carson. An '02 eh? I hope it's in Accurate Silver Metallic (fastest colour, regardless what the rest of the chuckleheads around here will tell you) and not that "glory hole red".
As for cans, that's very much a matter of preference and availability. My Gianellis sound good but are coming apart so I am about to fit a just-acquired-yesterday set of new-old-stock Hindles (YAY!!!) that I am itching to hear on the bird. Neither are available new for the XX anymore, so you'll have to settle with being jealous of me.
You'll get MANY opionions on which can is better, but in the end it's a subjective thing. Some have removable baffles, others don't. Some are extremely loud, others not so much. Then there are different lengths, diameters, materials and finishes. What are you looking for, sound wise?

Welcome from the windy city. I have stock pipes so can't be much help with the pipes. I have heard the Yoshi's and thought that they sounded great.

I have the 2 bothers and my son has yoshi. The 2b's are louder but not obnoxious. I have just fitted a pc3 to mine because we both have the open loop speed density year that doesn't have the 02 sensor. You have the advantage in that your system will trim the bike back as long as its not to crazy. A filter and cans should be well within its range.

I have two brothers carbon fiber slip ons and think they're way too loud and the aluminum oxidizes and pits too easily. Wish I'd got Yoshis. Thumbs down on TwoBros.

from The Garden State of New Jersey!

Slip-ons will make more noise and not much else. For more power get a full system.

I got a Micron full 4-2-1 at a good price and saves a lot of weight. I went with a higher pressure FPR to compensate for increased flow.

New 'Bird' owner from Down Under

    *merged again*
A couple of weeks ago I was a 'possible blackbird owner' but have now bought one! 2001, first registered 2002 (black) with 14,000kms on odometer. Stock standard but I'll be looking for ways to spruce her up.
I'll be scouring the forums for all the help I can get. By the way , I can't ride her until midnight Jan 7th 2011 as I've a suspended licence at the moment for 'alledgedly' going to fast on my Triumph Sprint St 1050!!
    Regards Carson
